About Us
Who are the van adventurers
We came to Canada in 2009 with two children, no job, no house, true immigrant style! Pretty scary, but life only gives you one chance. One of the reasons we chose Canada was because of the wilderness and space, but not the winter. With no commitments when we landed in Canada, we bought a second-hand Dodge Caravan and a pop-up trailer tent. We landed in June, which gave us the next ten weeks to travel coast to coast across the USA from Florida to California and back. It was something on my bucket list and probably the only chance we would have as a family.
The ten-week road trip was a true adventure, something that holds so many memories. For the last 16 years we have travelled extensively across Canada and the US with the trailer tent, tents and motels when necessary. We felt now was the time to get an RV, convert it and make our travels easier and more comfortable.

Why We Started This Blog
On our ten-week adventure in 2009 the internet and connectivity were very limited. However, we used TravelPod to update our journey across the USA. Our friends and family loved seeing how we were progressing. It’s a great way to catalogue your journey by posting what’s happening as a record. After watching RV build videos, each build is pretty similar although materials change depending on costs and where you live. However, on each video there is always something different and unique about how people challenge each problem. Therefore, we want to show our journey, the good, the bad and the probably ugly so people can hopefully learn and see how we approach the van build.
So our challenge is to build an RV that can accommodate four adults for travelling and sleeping, whilst being simple to build and not too fancy. It’s a bed on wheels, so that’s the focus.
